Community Guidelines
Ambit puts you in a conversation with people standing near you. That only works if everyone can trust the room. These rules apply to messages, group names and descriptions, and your name.
Who can use Ambit
Ambit is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we close it.
Zero tolerance
There is no acceptable amount of the following. Breaking these rules gets content removed and accounts suspended.
- Anything that sexualizes a minor. This includes “jokes,” fiction, and requests. It is illegal; we suspend the account immediately, keep the evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as US law requires.
- Sexual content — explicit language, propositions, sexual comments about someone, and links or handles that lead to pornography or sex services.
- Hate — slurs or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease.
- Harassment — insults, bullying, intimidation, or following someone from place to place.
- Threats and violence — threatening anyone, encouraging violence or terrorism, or glorifying it.
- Self-harm encouragement — urging or instructing anyone to hurt themselves. (Saying you’re having a hard time is fine. In the US you can call or text 988 any time.)
- Illegal goods and services — drugs, weapons, stolen goods, fake documents, trafficking.
- Trying to get someone alone — asking people, especially young people, for photos, to move to a private chat or another app, to share where they live, or to meet one-on-one.
- Other people’s private information — phone numbers, home addresses, ID or financial details, or broadcasting where someone is so others can find them.
- Spam and scams — phishing, schemes, repeated advertising, and shortened links that hide where they go.
How we enforce them
Every message is checked automatically before it is posted, and messages that break these rules are not sent. People can report any message and block anyone. Reports are reviewed by a person, usually within 24 hours. A message reported as involving a minor, or reported by several people, is hidden until it is reviewed.
Report and block
In a chat, press and hold a message to report it or block its author. Blocking hides their messages from you and hides each of you from the other’s “here now” list. They are not told.
If you are in danger
Call 911. Ambit is not an emergency service.
